C.S.Lewis - Shadowlands 中

 

 

A letter asks us some simple but fundamental questions.

 

Where was God on the December night?

 

Why didn't he stop?

 

Isn't God supposed to be good?

 

Isn't he supposed to love us?

 

Does God want us to suffer?

 

What is the answer to that question is yes?

 

I'm not sure that God particularily wants us to be happy.

 

I think he wants us to be able to love and be loved

 

He wants us to grow up

 

I suggest you that these because God loves us that he makes us a gift of suffering

 

우리를 사랑하시기에 고통의 선물을 주시는 것입니다.

A Pain is God's megaphon to arouse the deaf world.

 

귀기울이지 않는 세상을 깨우치려고 고통이라는 메가폰을 드신 것입니다.

 

You see,

 

We are like blocks of stone out of which the sculter carves the forms of man -?

 

우린 조각가가 인간 형상으로 깎아내는 돌덩어리 입니다.

 

A blows of chisel which hurts us so much , but it will make us perfect.

 

끌로 때리면 너무 아프지만, 그건 우리를 완벽하게 해주죠.

We think our childish toys bring us all the happiness through it

 

어릴 때는 장남감이 최대의 행복이고

 

어릴 때 쓰던 방이 세상의 전부인 줄 알죠.

 

but something must drive us out - to world of others.

 

그러나 아이방에서 나와 타인과의 세계로 가야 합니다.

 

and that something is suffering.
